Since May 2025, foreigners who invest at least US$300,000 in the charter capital of a Kazakh company or in locally issued securities can apply electronically for an investor visa and then a residence permit of up to 10 years (Kazakh Invest lists 45 calendar days to issue the permit). Real estate and deposits reportedly do not qualify. Residency only - Kazakhstan does not allow dual citizenship. A separate 'Altyn Visa' for investors and in-demand specialists, with tax incentives, was set up by presidential decree in April 2026 for implementation by end-2026; its terms are not yet published.
