Notes

The Migrante (M) visa, Pensionado subcategory, from Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Requires a lifetime pension of at least 3x the Colombian monthly minimum wage — with the 2026 minimum wage at COP 1,750,905/month, that is about COP 5,252,715/month (roughly US$1,380–1,410), so around US$17,000 a year. One of the lowest income thresholds of any retirement visa. Applied for online through the Cancillería portal; review takes up to 30 calendar days, with the e-visa issued within about 10 business days of approval. Renewable, and after 5 continuous years leads to an R (resident) visa — permanent residency — and eventually naturalization. Very low cost of living and strong, inexpensive private healthcare.
