Time to status
12 months for a Level 8 award; 24 months (two 12-month blocks) for Level 9 or above.
Path to citizenship
Yes, and this is the unusual part: time on student Stamp 2 is NOT reckonable for naturalisation, but time on Stamp 1G IS. The graduate year counts toward the five years of reckonable residence; the study years before it do not.
Residency requirement
Live in Ireland and register the permission; intended for seeking graduate-level employment.

Notes

Graduates of Irish institutions get Stamp 1G to look for graduate-level work and apply for a General or Critical Skills Employment Permit: 12 months at Level 8, 24 months at Level 9 or above. Ireland draws a sharp and widely-missed line for naturalisation — student Stamp 2 time is not reckonable, but Stamp 1G time is. So a master's graduate converts two counted years immediately, while the degree years before them count for nothing. Plan the sequence around that, not around the course. English-speaking, common law, and an EU passport at the end.
