Unusually, this one does not require you to have studied in Japan at all. You qualify on the strength of a foreign degree: graduation from a university ranked in the top 100 of at least two of the three major rankings (QS, THE, ARWU), or a graduate course completed at one, within the last five years. You need JPY 200,000 for living costs at the start of the stay, and you get up to two years to job-hunt or prepare a startup, with the right to work to fund it. Spouse and children can accompany on dependent Designated Activities status. It is the most accessible entry to Japan for a strong overseas graduate — but it is temporary, and the two years are for converting into a work or business status.
