Notes for Chinese applicants

HONG KONG-SPECIFIC. For BN(O) status holders resident in HK + dependents; NO investment and no English/salary requirement for the initial visa (just ~6 months maintenance funds). Feb 2026 expansion: adult children of BN(O) holders born on/after 1 Jul 1979 can apply independently (the 'Adult Child' route, from 8 Apr 2026). '5+1' to British citizenship (5 yrs to ILR, +1 yr). For HK clients the draw is settlement / political hedge, not mobility; capital controls don't apply. China doesn't recognise BN(O); HK residents still use the Home Return Permit (回乡证) for the mainland.
