South Korea Job-Seeking Visa (D-10)

South Korea · Asia-Pacific

Study PathwayTemporary residencyOpen

Time to status
Granted for up to 6 months at a time, extendable to a maximum of 2 years in total.
Path to citizenship
Not directly. D-10 is a bridge to an E-1–E-7 work visa, which is what leads to F-2 residence and eventually F-5. Korea does not generally allow dual citizenship for adults, so naturalisation means renouncing your current nationality.
Residency requirement
Live in Korea while job-seeking; extensions can be applied for from four months before expiry.

Notes

The D-10-1 is normally scored on a points system, but graduates of a Korean university within the past three years holding TOPIK level 4 or KIIP level 4 are exempt from it — which is the single most useful fact about this visa and the reason it belongs in a study plan rather than a job-hunting one. Graduates of a Korean junior college or above within the last three years are eligible. It permits job-seeking and on-the-job training including short paid internships, aimed at the E-1 to E-7 work categories. Extensions can be lodged from four months before expiry, up to two years total.
